History

From the Beginning

The Drifters were formed Spring 2007 when Team Leaders Travis Posey and James Jenkins decided to actively get back into woodsball. That year, the team played its first game together at DDay, with their initial members coming from Dallas, Houston, Chickasha, and Norman. Thus was born the name Drifters as the team members would drift in to come together for events and then drift out back to their homes.

At Posey’s urging, the Drifters decided to play as Allies in the 82nd Airborned Division. This proved to be a successful venture, with Drifters connecting well the 82nd AB leadership and taking on increasing roles in leadership with each successive year. With a strong connection to 82nd AB and to DDay Adventure Park, the Drifters attend three major events at this field, Black Hawk Down, DDay, and Red Dawn.

As the Drifters increased membership, it was clear that the Drifters would need to define itself and the reputation that it would carry onto field. First, the Drifters would always be known for their Sportsmanship on and off the field. Second, the Drifters would always extend the hand of Fellowship, not just to each other but to others as well. Finally, Leadership, the Drifters would build leaders within their team and provide leadership when needed. The Drifters enjoy a private home field, the 100 Acre Woods, just outside of Chickasha, OK.
